The free standalone UV packing application from 3D-IO introduces more efficient island placement, built-in language support, and a refreshed user experience.

Faster packing and more efficient layouts

Packer-IO 1.5 packs UVs up to 2× faster, reducing processing time when preparing and refining layouts.

The new packing placement system improves how islands are arranged, particularly when handling sequences of similarly shaped islands. More flexible placement makes better use of available UV space and reduces gaps in the resulting layout.

Built-in language support

Packer-IO now includes multiple interface languages directly in the application. Users can choose from the supported languages to work with familiar terms across the interface and settings.

Updated rendering and interface

An updated renderer supports DirectX on Windows and Metal on macOS, improving rendering performance and providing a smoother visual experience.

The release also introduces a refreshed user interface and refined interactions to make everyday work more intuitive.

Reliability improvements

Packer-IO 1.5 addresses several issues affecting processing and file handling:

• Fixed excessive border splitting that could cause extremely slow preprocessing.
• Resolved loading issues with glTF files containing defective UV channels.
• Fixed rare cases involving self-overlaps within UV islands.
